HOW DOES A SOLAR COLLECTOR WORK ?

A solar collector works simply: it's like the water in a garden hose all day in the sun, the water in the hose is very hot.

Solar collectors use that same principle. Even in winter, when the sun is shining only a few hours, such a solar collector can produce sufficient hot water to shower, to wash or to clean.

HOW MUCH DO I SAVE WITH A SOLAR COLLECTOR ?

You save 150 to 200 cubic metres of natural gas annually easily with 1 collector with a surface of four square metres. A frugal family with four persons as an average can save about half of the gas consumption for the hot water supply, so at least 100 euros free, but by using multiple collectors, clever use and linked to a washing machine, dishwasher and/or floor heating the savings will be easily much higher.

How much you can really save is individually depending on how much hot water you use. With solar energy wastage is a relative concept. Too much energy in the summer you can just let go away or blow in a jaccuzzi or swimming pool for example or smart capture of the overcapacity in a second boiler which tempers in colder times.
